Kendal Ducksworth
Coach Kendal Ducksworth is a passionate teacher of the game and a true student of basketball. Currently with a degree in Sports Coaching from the University of Memphis, Kendal brings both academic grounding and real-world experience to the gym every day.
A proud graduate of Memphis Academy of Health Sciences (MAHS), Kendal helped lead his high school team to a state runner-up finish, showcasing leadership, resilience, and competitive edge at a high level. After his playing career, he made a purposeful transition into coaching, pouring his energy, knowledge, and heart into developing the next generation of athletes.
Over the past six seasons, Kendal has coached at multiple levels, earning a reputation for his ability to connect with players, teach fundamentals with clarity, and lead with integrity. He understands how to meet athletes where they are while still challenging them to grow on and off the court.
Kendal believes basketball is more than a game. It’s a training ground for confidence, discipline, and character. Whether a player’s journey leads to the next level or simply to greater self-belief, his goal remains the same: help athletes trust the process and embrace their development.
Coach | Player Development | Defense
Coach Jamirah Shutes, known throughout the gym as Coach J, is a former University of Memphis standout who brings elite-level playing experience and a deep love for the game into her coaching. As a collegiate athlete, she emerged as a consistent leading scorer, competing at a high level and developing a strong understanding of what it takes to perform under pressure.
Having learned the game under respected basketball minds, Coach J brings a disciplined, detail-oriented approach to player development. She understands how to balance skill work with game intelligence, and she emphasizes doing the small things right footwork, spacing, decision-making, and effort every single day. Coach J is passionate about teaching fundamentals, basketball IQ, and discipline, while also helping athletes build confidence in who they are as players and people. Her presence on the court is both challenging and encouraging, pushing athletes to raise their standards while reminding them that growth is a process.
Her goal is simple and powerful: develop athletes who play with confidence, think the game, and carry themselves with purpose on and off the court.
