NCAA Men's and Women's Academies To Be Held at Memphis Sports and Events Center
After approval of its creation by the Division I Council in October, the College Basketball Academy for women will take place July 28-31 at the Memphis Sports and Events Center in Memphis, Tennessee. In addition, the College Basketball Academy for men, which has been restructured since its debut in 2019 at four sites across the country, is set to return July 24-27 at the same Memphis venue.
Area schools host 'Day of Peace' event at Memphis Sports and Events Center
More than 600 students filled Memphis Sports and Events Center on Friday for a Day of Peace.
The five-hour event replaced a regular school day for students at St. Agnes Academy, Christian Brothers High School, St. Benedict Academy, and Sacred Heart in Jackson, Tenn. It’s an event that took several months to plan but comes at an appropriate time according to Bethany Odom of St. Agnes Academy School.

“So many youth sports facilities are [on] the edge of suburban communities or down in rural communities,” Borys said. “Fans and [players'] families are going to love being able to travel to a city like Memphis for a tournament and have all the great entertainment and food options that we have. This is the kind of place that a whole family can come to for a vacation, while the kids are playing sports," she continued. "We believe this is one of the top-five indoor sports facilities in the nation.”

“This caliber of event is the exact reason the MSEC was built”, said Antonio Perez, General Manager of the Memphis Sports and Events Center. “Before this facility, Memphis would have never been a candidate to host such an event. Now, it has the opportunity to not only showcase an amazing venue, but to spotlight all that the city has to offer. It’s a true testament to the hard work of those who helped make the overall project happen.”
Nike to hold first EYBL event in Memphis at Sports and Events Center
Five months after it’s opened its doors, the Memphis Sports and Events Center (MSEC) will be hosting one of the biggest basketball events in the country. Antonio Perez, general manager of MSEC, confirmed Tuesday with the Commercial Appeal that a Nike EYBL event scheduled for May 26-29, will be hosted at the facility.

To paraphrase Neil Armstrong, the Mid-South recreation community took a giant leap Saturday when the Memphis Sports & Events Center (MSEC) opened its doors in the heart of Liberty Park. Where Memphians once rode the Zippin Pippin during a visit to Libertyland, they’ll now dribble basketballs, spike volleyballs, and compete in futsal tournaments. Drive by the facility and you can virtually hear the squeak of sneakers.
