Memphis Sports & Events Center Announces “The Tip-Off”

Basketball tournament headlines programming launch at Memphis’ newest destination

The Memphis Sports and Events Center (MSEC) has officially announced its first event of 2023, with The Tip-Off – a competitive youth basketball tournament for teams in grades 3-8 – set to take place January 7th and 8th. The tournament will be the first to grace the hardwood floors of the Southeast’s newest sports destination while acting as the development’s first sports tourism generator for the City of Memphis.

"After months and years of planning, we're thrilled to open the doors of the Memphis Sports and Events Center to athletes and their families," said Antonio Perez, General Manager of the MSEC." While exciting in its own right, The Tip-Off will provide just a glimpse of all that's to come in 2023 and beyond, which will include a compelling mix of local, regional, and even national events that are soon to be announced."

JJ Greer of the Memphis Sports Council adds, "Having a facility of this magnitude will elevate Memphis’ status as a premier sports destination to new heights. The city’s ability to not only host marquee events within the facility but to leverage it in showcasing all that Memphis has to offer to visitors makes the MSEC a real difference-maker."

In addition to The Tip-Off, the MSEC has also released its opening slate of local programs, which include adult basketball and volleyball leagues, youth basketball and soccer, winter break camps, and an after-school program. Offerings are tailored to a variety of ages and skill levels, with programs available to children as young as 18 months.

Registration for The Tip-Off and the state-of-the-art facility’s newly announced programs is now open at www.themsec.com. Additional programs will continually be added and those interested in booking their own 2023 events at the MSEC can learn more via the website.
