MSEC to serve as the official practice homes of BOLD Athletics (Volleyball) and Swarm Basketball

The all-new Memphis Sports and Events Center (MSEC) announced its partnerships with BOLD Athletics and Swarm Basketball and will thus serve as the official practice home for each in 2023.

Founded by Wayne and Porsha Parks in 2017, BOLD Athletics is a Memphis-based volleyball club which seeks “to create a culture of hard workers and winners by combining confidence, strength plus skill work to equal great results." With nearly 200 players and growing, BOLD offers training to players of all ages and skill levels and has helped propel several of the club's athletes to the collegiate level.

"Joining the MSEC is so exciting,” says Co-Founder and Head Trainer Porsha Parks, who formerly starred on the Mississippi Valley State University volleyball team. “It helps push our organization and mission forward and we are proud to have this amazing opportunity.” Co-Founder and Head Strength & Conditioning Coach Wayne Parks adds, "Being a native Memphian, the excitement is indescribable. We’re working to drive big change and awareness in the volleyball community and operating out of the MSEC will help us accomplish just that.”

BOLD Athletics will immediately occupy the MSEC upon its opening. Those interested in learning more can visit bold901.com or can follow the club socially at @boldathletics901.

Founded in 2008, Swarm Basketball is the country's largest AAU program, currently spanning 22 states and featuring over 500 teams and thousands of players within its ranks. The club teaches athletes developmental skills from a young age and then seeks to connect them with collegiate playing opportunities. An emphasis is also placed on enhancing participants' character by teaching core values such as sportsmanship and teamwork.

“We have the unique perspective and experience of operating in many of the country’s premier sports facilities and are thrilled to expand our footprint into the Memphis Sports and Events Center. As leaders in grassroots basketball, Swarm provides best-in-class club basketball programming, focusing on the necessary skills to succeed in sport and in life”, said Alice Mullen-Rusin, Swarm Basketball President. “We look forward to working with the MSEC to inspire the next generation of athletes and leaders, showcasing Memphis basketball and continuing to grow the game.”

Swarm Basketball will begin its tenancy in March of 2023, though with a lead-up of various clinics and tryouts for local youth seeking to be involved. Those wanting to learn more should visit swarm-basketball.com/memphis
